Montreal was once the heart of Canada’s booming financial district, and Saint-James Street back then, and now known as St-Jacques Street, was the place to be and be seen in finance.  Start at Square Victoria and walk eastward taking note of the building names as you walk down the street.  While most financial institutions have moved to new locations and some transforming into condos, the Bank of Montreal transit 1 still stands firmly at Place d’Armes.  Head into the building and take a quick look at the bank’s museum for a glimpse of the currency over the years.
