The food trucks are back in Montreal for the 2015 spring/summer season with eight new food trucks ready to serve and fight for the title of best food truck. For the third consecutive year, from May 1st to October 31st food trucks can be found at designated stations across the six boroughs Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Le Sud-Ouest, Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, Verdun and Ville-Marie. Want to know where to find the food trucks? Well, there are a couple of options.
Social media (Facebook or Twitter) is always a good way to follow the food trucks, as most will post updates of their location to their accounts each day. There’s also the City of Montreal website which has a page dedicated to food truck locations. Given the restrictions on where and when food trucks may run, the site provides easy reference with begin/end times and locations for each food truck for the current month. Montreal Street Food Quest is another option for those who like web apps. It has a dynamic map displaying food truck locations. With so many trucks offering varying cuisines to choose from, it’ll definitely be a challenge to narrow down one’s favourite.
Care for some tartare? There’s a truck for that. How about foie gras from one of Québec’s top restaurants? Yes, there’s some of that too. And of course there’s the truck offering the good old hot dog and hamburger in a bun, but of course with a twist of sides such as poutine (a Quebec classic). Out early in the morning and forgot to eat breakfast? Well, why not grab a St-Viateur bagel (one of the best bagels in North America). Still can’t decide from viewing the list below, or wish you could see all the menus/trucks before choosing? Then head down to the Sun Life Esplanade at the Olympic Stadium (about a 5 minute walk from the Pie-IX metro) on the First Friday of each month during food truck season!
The event known as First Friday’s, allows you to walk amidst Canada’s largest gathering of food truck vendors ready to serve from 4pm to 11pm. Food, music, and company are all that you need, of course and some cash or plastic, to enjoy the evening amidst a festive atmosphere. There are six chances to attend in 2015, so plan ahead for an evening of fun. Whatever you try, we want to hear your vote. Tweet us a pic at #MtlFoodTrucks2015
